if you're really ambitious, try to enlarge the area between the radiator and the hood to allow a ROUND air duct to fit.!!!!

Instead of modding my stock hood, I just bought an MCM one. I remember a post a long time ago where the guy glassed in a high rise portion to his stock hood. Looked pretty decent when it was done.
