I was out cruzin this weekend and when I got back to the garage I was wiping the car off before covering it and I noticed the antenna was still up. I went to the ignition key, turned it on, had the radio playing, turned off the key and removed it and the antenna is still up even after opening the door and killing the radio. Couldn't find anything in owners manual on it. Thought someone on forum might know something. C5 is a 2000 with only 19000 miles.
I would put the key in the accessory mode, turn on the radio, and see if you can hear the motor for the antenna. Then turn off the radio and see if you can hear the motor again.
If you can't hear the motor, I would check the fuses or check to see if there is a kill switch for the antenna.
If you can hear the motor, then I would try applying some WD 40 or other lubricant to the antenna shaft.
I checked fuse 24 and it was good. I do hear a light humming noise then a click when I turn radio on or off with key on. I WD40'd mast with no help. Sounds like motor may be OK, but something is broke on raising mast. I tried to go thru trunk to see if I could find antenna motor but to no avail. My next move is to lift car and see what can be found from underneath. Anyone know how to get to antenna motor. THANKs
It costs $13.50 plus $6.00 shipping. Instructions on the website. You will have to remove the rightmost tail lens and get to the cap covering the gears after removing thr mounting bolts to remove the plastic cable broken off in the motor. Not hard. Call them up if you need any more guidance. Very knowledgeable. DON'T BUY A NEW MOTOR if yours is running now. $20 not $100 BIGHANK
