Is it pretty easy to do? I just pulled my AC Delco after a couple of slow cranking starts and discovered it was leaking. I took care of what I could, but it looks like it goes down and back on the frame a little farther then I can reach.
I wouldn't. I would get everything I could without removing the fender well. By the way, the inner fender wells (inner wheelhouses) are secured to the frame and body structure by only a few bolts, but a lot of adhesive. I'm not sure you could get them off intact without doing some damage. Ask me how I know...
The plastic fenderwell liner comes out quite easily. There are about 8 or 9 screws/bolts that hold it in. You can see the PCM once you get the liner out.
I've had it out a couple of times when I fitted my AVIC N1. Its easier with the wheel off.
