I'm a beginner when it comes to performance parts, but I work on aircraft all day so I'm mechanicaly inclined.
First money is not an issue. What is the best intake system out there? I've spent hours looking; VRam, Blackwing, Hurricane, Halltech, Honker..etc. Decision factors are: Design, Function, HP, ease of installation. I want to keep it simple as possible. My Vette is my daily driver, and I don't abuse it, but I would like to create more airflow than the stock piece on there.
i have a SLP/Donaldson blackwing brand new in the box that i will be able to sell to you next week when i get back home if you want. I have heard many good things about it, but i bought a vararam and am going to install it next week. Let me know if you want the blackwing.
$220 shipped
thanks

Let me know when you get back, so I can make my final decision. I did some research on them, and it seems pretty good. Thanks again.
No problem Mitch, will do. It should be either Wednesday or Thursday of next week. I have bought all of my current mods and sold a few things to forum members here just to give you some reasurrance along with a bunch of products on ebay

Many will say the Honker... and I agree with them get the Honker! I wish that I would have sometimes, but I am Happy with my K&N FIPK because I dont have a car with too many mods on it.
I helped my buddies install both a vararam and backwing on their C5s. The Vararam took an entire day of argueing and the blackwing took about 15 minutes and it only required one person to install. I have also heard the honker is tough and takes a while to install. Also, all the cars did the same on the street (Hey who said i street race!) except at the track the vararam got around 1 tenth better than the other intakes and around 1mph higher trap. Just my 2cents

Thanks for the great info! Just from reading all the replies in this short period of time, I think I'll go with the Blackwing. I was leaning toward the VRam, but after reading what a pain in the a** it is to install, I'm not ready for that. I live in an apartment complex, so I don't have access to a garage to get down and dirty installing mods. Blackwing seems the best for me right now. Thanks again!
My buddy actually ran the slowest out of the three intakes we tested with the honker (not by much, only a few hundreths). Dont get me wrong it is a great intake, but just not the one i would perfer after seeing the track results.
The Honker is not that hard to install, just time consuming to do right. Once installed it is the best, OEM quality and looks, unit out there. It also is 50-state legal, if that matters. Excellent performance with it. I'm satisfied with mine. Also comes with excellent instructions and includes all sorts of hardware with it for installation.

Any info would help! Thank you.
If money is no issue, Callaway Honker hands down. I think there is a GP going on via RevXtreme right now w/ a good price. Performance on par with VaraRam (generally considered top intake) but quality, construction, fit and finish of Callaway is second to none for this piece.
I've had stock, Z06 Airbox, Blackwing and now Honker

I've had a Blackwing on mine for a number of years. Seems to do a very good job filtering the air and gets more air flow than the stock unit. Install is easy and looks are very good.
