I posted this Tech section the other day but did not get any responses, so I thought I'd try again here.
My '99 A4 Vert has developed an intermittant stumble or surge while cruising at a constant speed. (Between 60-75 mph) This stumble shows about a 50-100 rpm jump on the tach and at times will actually cause the cruise to disengage. At times the cruise will not re-engage. Check engine light has not come on and the car seems to run fine the rest of the time. This car has only 27k on the odo.
Has anyone else ever experienced this or have any suggestions as what the cause might be?
As always, your help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Tom
I had a crazy engine misfire myself. Mine was a bit different - happened when the car was wet and it turned out to be a chafed wiring harness. Could be a couple of possibilities. Did you run your codes?
when i first got my c5 a year ago, it had a stumble as you describe. I decided to change the plugs. When i was installing the wires back on, i noticed that one of the wires was chaffed pretty bad. I ended up replacing all the plug wires and never had the problem again.
This would be a quick inspection for you. Check it out.
The only codes that came up were from A0-LDCM (Left Door Control Module), A1-RDCM (Right Door Control Module), A6-SCM (Seat Control Module), and B0-RFA (Function Actuation).
Nothing from the PCM.
I guess I'll take a close look at the wires.
Still open to other suggestions though!
Thanks,
Tom
