Seems like it would be a lot of work, but it would be cool! Could you just do away with the ignition and replace with a button to make the connection instead of a key. Of course you would lose the security of a key. Im curious to know what would be involved with this.

I am working with the electronics to get rid of my keys and keyholes.
One will be a transmitter that when within range will unlock the doors and keep the car in contact after you close the door.
My ideal, a fingerprint reader at the back of doorhandles and another inside the car for starting.

I should've clarified.. It's the FOB that came with the Python system.

I wired the garage door opener to the lighter once.

a memeber here has one that I have seen. i think his id is "EVILC5" . either way, i think he uses the key first, then the button to start (placed in the ashtray area).

i would like to do this as well if some lays out a step by step.

Didn't most cars have push button start before the 60's ? I've seen some old 50'ish pickups that actually had a starter pedal on the floor !

I am going to do a push button start on my Vette.

I did this mod on my 99 Z28 and used a silver start button with blue light.

I then changed to the Honda S2000 push button. You have to keep the key for the Vats pass key. I eventually cut the yellow wire to my key and put a bullet conector in there so if I needed to plug it back in I could by removing the knee bolster panel

I am trying to find the wiring instructions I used and I will post a link. I used a relay and wiring was quite simple.

Here is a pic of the S2000 start button in my 99 Z28 (now sold)

Here is the original silver start button I fitted lit up at night in the 99 Z28

I want this button to go in my 97 Vette to match up with my blue LED interior

I loved this mod in the Z28 it was so cool to have push button start.
All the latest high performance cars are going back to push button start.

I have found the link I used to do my 99 Z28 push button start I am sure it would be very simple to do this on th Vette as the wiring is even easier to get to than the Z28's was.

Id be a little cautious about a company that offers a "Corvette C7" push button.
