PS-It seems Cobra 4B is the only one in here not talking with a bias toward the C5.

I think I need to buy previous model corvettes. What's funny is the Vettes I'm not too keen on (i.e. C4 and C6) my dad just loves. He wants a C6, but is going to wait another year or two. I love the lines and body of the C5 plus I can't afford another vette for about 10 years, or atleast until I get a second mortgage on my first Z, lol.

Cobra 4B is always posting informative and pretty accurate facts on here. I really enjoy reading what he has to say and really get something out of it.

I'm sitting at about 430 at the engine with my tune, B&B's, and Halltech so, I'm OK for now, haha.

Default Technology Never Rests!

Threatened? No, not at all. A few observations though...

I know several guys who bought a C6 and threw $$$ at it for mods and a tune only to get about what the General has obtained for the ’08 C6. That's gotta hurt.

The early C6 prices (’05 to ’07) will drop like a boat anchor. I’m not in the market but if I was I’d certainly wait a while. Also, I predict the remaining 07's will sit on the lots for a looooong time...well, longer then they are now.

As for the added HP, while I believe you can never have enough HP I’ll be the first to admit that I can’t enjoy the 405 I’ve got due to traffic congestion. This weekend 10 of us traveled to Bowling Green for the C5/C6 Bash. Three of us came home together in a rather spirited drive – or so I thought. We were south of Nashville clicking along at 90 or so when a mini-van passes us going well over 100. Oh well, guess I’m getting old cause common sense took over, rather than hit the throttle I watch the minivan taillights fad away then snuggled back in my seat and enjoyed the ride!

Amen. To enjoy what a sports car has to offer, you have to auto-x, road race or drag race for the most part. I have taken lately to getting up on Sunday morning and driving purposely to consume as many on and off ramps as possible in the shortest time. You won't see a van taking these kind of g's.

Personally, I think anyone calling any corvette "fugly" on a corvette forum should have their princess a$$ kicked off the forum, but thats just me I love ALL corvette's. They are all awesome in their own way, and its a great american tradition. Even if you don't prefer a particular style atleast show some respect.

He is allowed to have an opinion without being kicked off the forum. We all read your opinion all the time and I have not read anybody calling for your removal. Here's mine. There is nothing awesome about a '77 corvette. And Chrome does not work with the Z06's style. GM did not put one millimeter of chrome on the car for a reason. It not a "bling" car. Here's the difference. Far more than others on the forum, you will take my opinion personally and be very offended. If I'm lucky, you will start attacking all my posts from now on like you do with Twi1ight.

You don't see me calling anyone's car's "fugly", do you? There must be a 100 posts from him trashing the C6 and calling it fugly, and how he wouldn't drive one if someone paid him etc etc. I'm sorry but constantly saying this on a corvette forum where many members have the car he is trashing, is just distasteful and annoying.

You are certainly welcome to your opinion but you are very much in the minority with it. There is nothing wrong with adding a touch of "bling" to a performance car. Its not like I put chrome Louvers on it or anything. they are simply chrome plated OEM wheels. And I have not compromised the performance of the car in any way, only enhanced it. There no reason a performance or track car needs to look blah.

From what I am reading, the 08 is going to be way under-rated at 430.
It will easily make 450 at the crank. They are using the air intake from the Z06. And like some of the others have said, the motor will have monster potential. I love my C5 Z06 and it works well for me, and that is good enough.

If this engine will be such a monster, is the Z06 really going to be worth the extra $'s? It seems like they will have to up the ante with the Z.

Progress is something to look forward to and accept, not to fear. If Chevy hadn't made the leaps in development in the last 20+ years we'd still have the 220 horse vettes of the 80s. It's inevitable that our C5Z's will be surpassed in every performance catagory by a future model base vette. This just gives us something to look forward to

im gonna say the 02-04 C5Z is still gonna win on the strip and at the 'ring. HP potential sure but an 07 Shelby has more HP potential than a C6Z...so what? The C5Z is a true race car for the street a C6 (and i have one) is a street car for the track. We will see.

The 'vert actually almost looks acceptable. But I prefer a hardtop. To be fair, I'm not a typical Corvette guy, and I didn't like the older ones any better than the C6. I bought the C5 Z06, not because it was a Corvette, but in spite of that fact. It was fast, beautiful, and I just had to have it. Now that I've had it several years, I'm hoping upon hope they make something else I like SOON.

Does anyone know if the 08 6 speed auto now has "paddle" shifter and not the thumb nonsence that it first had?

As for Kbreese.....I sure hope you're joking about wanting to ban someone from here for expressing an opinion. Just because someone is pasionate about their opinion and want's to state it more than once......so What!!

Not really... the Z still has better flowing heasds and .8 liters of displacement to play with so mod for mod (at least NA) it will make more power. Plus, it has more exotic materials, dry sump, and fancier brakes... oh and the goregeous fenders/quarters.

I bet there's a local shop that could hack your fenders and bondo on some flares for you. They won't be one piece but the look will be the same. Actually they'll probably look better, since the top of your fender is a nice gentle curve as opposed to a hard angle so it's a curve on a curve which doesn't look like as much of an after thought.

I wasn't completely serious, but let's face it, we don't have 100% free reign when it comes to expressing our opinion. I know this all too well as I had been previously banned for 2 weeks for expressing my opinion of him. Frankly I think the mods got it backwards....His constant bashing and insulting of the new corvette on a corvette forum is perfectly fine. But if I insult the person insulting the corvette on a corvette forum I am the one banned.

It wouldn't be like that in real life. Imagine this if you will...we are all at a car show and come across a group of C6's on display, the owners pride and joy's, and there's him saying omg these cars are fugly, you couldn't pay me to drive one, announcing this for all to hear. I turn to him tell him to shutup and call him an ahole. Who do you think the people would prefer be kicked out of the show?

The rules on people bashing are part of the forum. I was unaware you got banned for saying something about me - I find that surprising considering all the things you've said over time anyway. Having an opinion on the looks of a car shouldn't be a problem for anyone who doesn't share the opinion - to each his own. As for a car show, I wouldn't be in the C6 section since I clearly don't like looking at them. I do wave to them out on the street, as well as all the other models I don't like. It's a Corvette thing, but that doesn't mean I have to like them all just because they say Corvette on them, or that I shouldn't be allowed to say it - particularly here. One would hope that GM would be interested in feedback both positive and negative.
