Read that in the paper. 0-60 for the automatic is 4.3 sec. Seems the C6 came close initially to our cars when it came out. Now it has surpased us in hp in stock form. Does anyone feel threatened? I don't. I guess things always improve, but I am still very happy with my TR 03 Z06.

GM says the 0-60 for our cars is 3.9, and im really not worried, nothing a few bolt ons wont take car of and they wont handle like our cars

Nope...it's still fugly. I couldn't care less if it did 0-60 in 1 second.
I figure it is just another clever marketing move by Chevy. All the guys that are now insecure with their paltry 405 HP will make the jump to either a base 08 C6 or a C6 Z06.
New LS3 has huge power potential if you're willin to ditch your warranty. It utilizes the larger bore L92 Escalade block (lager than 4.0" which is what the LS2 block is) to achieve 6.2 liters w/ the stock stroke. Then it's topped w/ the L92 escalade heads that so many people are slapping on their 402s; they flow 330 cfm right out of the box apparently (as much or more than many aftermarket heads), and finally it has a new intake manifold that may/may not be better than the L76 manifold that people currently using L92 heads are using.
So what's this mean? I'm saying very close to 500 rwhp cam only (w/ boltons of course)

Well that's a positive for engine development I guess. I still won't buy the car.
I keep cars for awhile. I just bought my 2002 ZO6 and will probably keep it five + years and then look for a deal on a low mileage C6 ZO6. Even with 430 HP the LS3 C6 does not tempt me. The regular C6 just seems too Caddilac like for me. I suspect that it will take quite a few mods (perhaps mostly to computer tuning) to really wake the LS3 up and make the car perform like a 430 HP sports car should. I do wonder about the possibility of some of the good LS3 parts swapping onto the LS6?

Stock for stock, I think the new C6 will be about equal to our C5Z in a straight line, if they actually "only" have 430 hp.
Our car is lighter and geared better, which is huge at the drag strip.
The "G1" C6 was not all that close to a C5Z. Maybe seat of the pants.. But put the 2 cars besides one another, and there was a decent difference in acceleration. I know, because I have done it several times.
The new engine looks impressive and I think it will be a handful for C5Z's. (stock for stock, mod for mod). Personally I think the C6's are great looking cars, and overall the new C6 is impressive. It's good to see b/c as I plan to keep buying corvette's so eventually I will have a C6 or C6Z. For now though I am more than ecstatic with my C5Z.
PS-It seems Cobra 4B is the only one in here not talking with a bias toward the C5.
I love my 04Z,bought new, and the C6 cars are really growing on me. I have the garage space right now for another Vette so the new ones are looking good. We'll see if the base motor in 08 will take my mind off another ZO6....
