Lighting options
I have been doing a lot of research because one thing I want to do with my car once I get it is to get HID lights or better lights than stock. As I have seen in my friends vette the stock lights absolutely suck, and for a newer mustang I can get HID lighting, both hi/lo beams using some magnetic technology for around 300-400 dollars. However the only HID kits I can find for the C5 are around $1000. Is this because of the motorized headlight housing?
So my main question is has anyone bought this kit?
PFYC European conversion kit
I can see it's better through the pictures, but I would rather hear it from someone else who actually has the kit.
If you fill in your profile maybe someone in your area has the kit and can show you in person.

Nothing like a vette I had other sport cars but when you get behind the wheel of a Corvette you feel like you own the road.
Basically the whole thread is to find out if I can buy a conversion kit from this website, and be able to install that in a C5 vette and will there be any problems with the motorized housing?
Oh and what about euro lights, anyone have a good site to get those at a decent price.
I'm doing my due diligence before i decide on a car to buy. And part of that is researching things I will do to my car afterwards. But I'm pretty much set on the vette, the stang is more of a backup car if this falls through, whether it be insurance or whatever. Just keeping my options open.

Ok, first of all you have a lot of research to do on HID kits..
start here: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...nversions.html
the only "motorized" HID housings would be bi-xenon, and they are the $1000.00 HID kit you were talking about.
the HID kit in the website you posted is what's commonly refered to as a "bulb swap" HID kit, and they can be bought on ebay for around $150.00, but you WILL get what you pay for...
and all of the similar HID kits for $300.00, $350.00 etc.. are basically the same thing as the ebay kits.
you get a HID bulb that fits into your stock housing, a wiring harness and ballast.
there is no "new" HID technology to make these things work like factory HIDs in BMW's, Lexus, Acura, and even the C6 corvette.
the same $150.00 HID kit in a Mustang will work the same in the C5 corvette, you just need the correct bulb to fit your socket in the housing.
the website you posted "claimed" that their HID kit was the brightest at 6500k, but in reality 4300k is the brightest HID, that's why all factory HIDs are 4300k.
if you want blue headlights, get 6500k, or 8000k, the higher you go in color temp the more blue the lights will be, but the less visability you will have.
if you want to see more of the road, get 4300k, and if you REALLY want to see more of what's down the road get projector HIDs (that's what factory HIDs use) but they will set you back about $750.00
good luck!
and buy the Corvette, it blows away a Mustang.
plus, mustangs are like toilets, everybody has one...

I have no idea what any of that meant!

Edit:
I think I just found what I may have been looking for. It is one of the $1000 kits, but it comes with the HID kit and the projector headlamp assemply.

Anyone have this or know anyone with this? Are you/they satisfied?
2nd Edit:
After reading that article on HID lamps and the retro-fitted ones, I think that the one I posted is one of the "true" HID kits the guy was talking about because it comes with new wiring, and headlamp assembly and all that.

this is a simple bulb swap that has a huge impact on light output. There are several of us on the forum that have had these for months and I for one am amazed at the difference that is there.
I have had no issue with alignment, no problems from oncoming traffic etc ... just a vast improvement.
Just look up DJ Motorsports in the accessories section of the sponsored ads and Davis will take care of you.
