Default Lighting options

Okay, I am pricing two different cars and am trying to decide between both. For my price range 20k-26k I can either go for a C5 vette or a newer 06-07 Mustang GT. I want a corvette and have absolutely loved them since I was a kid. Either way I want a car that you don't see many of and I want to be able to add a lot of extra stuff in terms of lighting, exhaust, and interior stuff.

I have been doing a lot of research because one thing I want to do with my car once I get it is to get HID lights or better lights than stock. As I have seen in my friends vette the stock lights absolutely suck, and for a newer mustang I can get HID lighting, both hi/lo beams using some magnetic technology for around 300-400 dollars. However the only HID kits I can find for the C5 are around $1000. Is this because of the motorized headlight housing?

So my main question is has anyone bought this kit?

PFYC European conversion kit

I can see it's better through the pictures, but I would rather hear it from someone else who actually has the kit.

Well you posted this on a Corvette Forum so just about everyone here is going to say get the Vette. You said you want something you dont see a lot of, well I dont know about where your at but here there are a lot more Mustangs than Corvettes. If you fill in your profile maybe someone in your area has the kit and can show you in person.

Nothing like a vette I had other sport cars but when you get behind the wheel of a Corvette you feel like you own the road.

It's not so much about which car I want to get, the post is more for the question about the lighting kit. I filled in my profile so now hopefully someone can help me out.

Basically the whole thread is to find out if I can buy a conversion kit from this website, and be able to install that in a C5 vette and will there be any problems with the motorized housing?

Oh and what about euro lights, anyone have a good site to get those at a decent price.

of course you can get a 9006 conversion kit for the c5. don't let the lighting options be the deciding factor between a vette and a mustang.

Yeah, I would love to have the money for performance mods first. Maybe if i hit a job that pays a lot I can do that. However, right now i have a 1998 GMC Sonoma with the 4 banger and a manual, so let's just say that a stock Mustang GT/Vette will be PLENTY of power for me to start off with haha. i have driven my Dad's Eldorado quite a few times so I have driven power before, however I'm sure it's nothing like a Vette.

It's definitely not the deciding factor. They both have huge upsides and both have some downsides on pricing and stuff. The only thing that is making me compare the two is the fact that if I went with a vette it would have to be a 5-8 year old car, where as the stang would be a 1-2 yr old car.

I'm doing my due diligence before i decide on a car to buy. And part of that is researching things I will do to my car afterwards. But I'm pretty much set on the vette, the stang is more of a backup car if this falls through, whether it be insurance or whatever. Just keeping my options open.

You want something you don't see everyday, then it has to be the Corvette. I was in your position two years ago when the new '05 Mustangs came out. I bought a then 3 year old Vette convertible and I've never looked back. Mustangs are everywhere! It seems like I see a dozen or so on the road every day. As far as HID lights, do a search and you will find a number of alternatives available for less than the thousand bucks you are talking about.

Supporting vendor NTRBL33 here has sold about 100 of C5 HID conversion kits the past few months on this forum. His order site is www.djmotorsportaccessories.com and cost is $299 shipped.

Ok, first of all you have a lot of research to do on HID kits..
start here: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...nversions.html

the only "motorized" HID housings would be bi-xenon, and they are the $1000.00 HID kit you were talking about.
the HID kit in the website you posted is what's commonly refered to as a "bulb swap" HID kit, and they can be bought on ebay for around $150.00, but you WILL get what you pay for...
and all of the similar HID kits for $300.00, $350.00 etc.. are basically the same thing as the ebay kits.
you get a HID bulb that fits into your stock housing, a wiring harness and ballast.
there is no "new" HID technology to make these things work like factory HIDs in BMW's, Lexus, Acura, and even the C6 corvette.
the same $150.00 HID kit in a Mustang will work the same in the C5 corvette, you just need the correct bulb to fit your socket in the housing.

the website you posted "claimed" that their HID kit was the brightest at 6500k, but in reality 4300k is the brightest HID, that's why all factory HIDs are 4300k.
if you want blue headlights, get 6500k, or 8000k, the higher you go in color temp the more blue the lights will be, but the less visability you will have.
if you want to see more of the road, get 4300k, and if you REALLY want to see more of what's down the road get projector HIDs (that's what factory HIDs use) but they will set you back about $750.00

good luck!

and buy the Corvette, it blows away a Mustang.
plus, mustangs are like toilets, everybody has one...

Do you have a link for these projector HID's and is there a certain place you recommend? I was looking a lot at projector housings for the mustang/corvette and in research for the stang i picked out some projector housings and was going to order an HID kit as well. I haven't done any research on projector's for the vette. In my research i haven't been able to find as many good projector and HID kits for the vette that weren't thousands of dollars. But I guess 750$ isn't so bad. I would love to have projector headlights and HID's for my vette.

I have been working at Ford dealers for 7 years now.I could get a new mustang for the same price as my 98 c5.My mustang has been sitting idle since i got my c5.I even bought my c5 here.Next purchase here at the dealer is a 04spiral grey vert for my wife. The hid light here on the forum seems to be pretty good and is on my mod list.Don't prolong the inevitable.Get the vette now and save on the fuel cost too.

Any suggestions on a good euro conversion kit for the headlights so i can have a completely clear lense, or projector lenses that will work with his kit?

Edit:
I think I just found what I may have been looking for. It is one of the $1000 kits, but it comes with the HID kit and the projector headlamp assemply.

http://www.corvettegarage.com/produc...-corvette.html

Anyone have this or know anyone with this? Are you/they satisfied?

2nd Edit:
After reading that article on HID lamps and the retro-fitted ones, I think that the one I posted is one of the "true" HID kits the guy was talking about because it comes with new wiring, and headlamp assembly and all that.

You won't need to change out the lense ... unless you have the desire to spend more money

this is a simple bulb swap that has a huge impact on light output. There are several of us on the forum that have had these for months and I for one am amazed at the difference that is there.

I have had no issue with alignment, no problems from oncoming traffic etc ... just a vast improvement.

Just look up DJ Motorsports in the accessories section of the sponsored ads and Davis will take care of you.

Isn't that the type of kit that is proven to not help in the distance sight in the website that RPOz4z posted? It's just one of the retro-fitted kits that isn't true HID?
