Default Catch Can Purpose

Is the catch can really necessary or is it an underhood bling?!

From what I can tell by reading posts here on the forum, it will help keep oil from being sucked into the intake. For about $100, seems to be a good investment.

Default They work!!

I installed my can a month ago and found little if any oil in mine the first 100 miles or so of driving around town. However, we just completed a 1800 mile trip to Bowling Green for the C5/C6 Bash and there was quite a bit of oil in the can ( maybe 1 inch) when I got home. I thought maybe I'd wasted a $100 until the trip, but now glad I did the "can"! Ron

If you get on the car you get some blowby and the catch can will hold it for you. It's especially good for people who go road racing and auto-x.

I got one from elite engineering.

It can be done for under $20, if you don't need the corvette taxed cans. A DIY is out for a homemade system, that works just as well.

Default Catch Can

The purpose of the catch can is to prevent oil back into the intake. I think is a cheap insurance!

If you drive your NA setup hard or modded you need one, I always have some oil in mine after some boosted runs and that is often

That being said, my EE catch can serves its purpose well & collects a tablespoon of oil about once a month. I only drive the car on weekends for the most part.

Just ask yourself if you want that oil in the catch can or pooled up on the floor of your intake, deposited on the tips of your spark plugs & coating the mouth & butterfly of your throttle body.

Basically a no brainer

8000 miles worth of what my "bling" kept out of my intake...

If you drive it like a sports car, you'll want a catch-can.
