Default Help!?!?

I recently put Borla straight pipes on my 02 ZO6, it is wayyyy tooo loud! I need to find someone who is willing to do the Ti exhaust Mod somewhere in the Northeast. That being said, can anyone direct me to someone willing to work with titanium, I have the exhaust completely off the car so I can drive it anywhere, preferably Mass, NH, Maine, Conn, RI. ANY help would be awesome!

I am looking to do the same thing....but here in Texas.
This guy is closer to you (Long Island, NY).
You might get his welder to do it.

Look in your local yellow pages under welding. Call the shops and ask them if they can weld Ti sheet metal tubing. There nothing too special about it. It takes a special tip (Looks like a foot) and a little skill. The shield gas just needs to be held over the weld while the moltent weld cools which nessiciates a special tip. I'm sure you will find someone local that can do the job for you.

What part of the mufflers do you need to weld?? Are you doing the Andy A&A mod to your Ti's???

What size pipe should be used?
The earlier thread used 1.5 inch.

Guys thank you for the replies! Yes I am doing Andy's Mod for the Ti exhaust, I would like to use the 1.5" tubing or bigger if at all possible. I have called everyone, I went to motorcycle shops, and even went to Lou's Custom exhaust and all their buddies won't touch it. No one seems to have welded Ti before. When I did the yellow page route for all of Mass, they asked what it was for and I said ZO6 exhaust and all of a sudden everything was a no go, they said they did not want the responsibility. I am no stranger to the car building industry and know some people in it, just no one will touch it. I even will have the holes cut if necessary. I have one place left to check in Goffstown Nh and then I might be taking a ride to Long Island if no one else has any ideas.

...Has anyone thought of doing the Ti exhaust mod without welding? If the 1.5 inch piece of pipe was precisely cut to get a good fit between the two larger pipes it could possibly be clamped in place. I see a potential for someone to make some money doing this and then cutting a bunch of pieces of 1.5 inch pipe to the right size and shape and selling them here on CF. I would very much like to get the mod done but finding someone who can weld titanium is holding me back. Cutting the pieces from titanium pipe would look nice but using mild steel would be much cheaper and also might work better with a clamp.

I was able to find someone local by calling our local welding supply companies. American Eagle Airline has a maintenance facility here and a company here does Titanium welding for them at 80.00/hr. I figure at most 2 hrs of welding. I have the pipe coming from TICO in Spring, TX and should be able to get it done soon. You might try the local welding supply companies where you are or if there is an aviation repair facility close to you. They use Titanium on the exhausts of the turbo props and other places I am sure.
