Ok, this may seem like an odd fix, but it is free. It worked for me and several others I told this to as well. No guaranty, but worth a try. If you notice when you get in and turn the key the guages will dial up. If you don't let this cycle complete you are in effect interupting a boot sequence for the multiple computers in the car.
So, solution is to put key in and turn first click and allow boot sequence to complete (guages settle back to zero) then start car every time. All my problems stopped as did other owners. Hopefully this solves your problem or at a minimum reduces it. Problem symptoms are pretty much anything you can think of that would seem like a UFO just flew over you.
These batteries can mess with your head in regards to these Vettes!! I thought my CD player was bad for over a year and when I finally replaced the battery, it worked like a charm again...
Keep the battery on a tender if you drive it less than once a week... even then it's probably best for long term to keep it on a Tender... Saves the battery and the hassle!!
03spiralcpe,
Thanks for letting us know what happened in the end!!
