Bought my 99 vert in 05. Original sticker 54k. Paid 24k with 24k one owner miles. It was like new.
Every time I get C6 fever I just tell myself to wait another 2 or 3 years and get a 2007 (I want the 6 speed auto) for about 1/2 of it's original sticker price.

2000 coupe 23500 miles , I have a 07 Grand Prix GXP as my DD . as much as I love my Vette I really don't see any reason to drive it everyday . I want to keep it for ever and low mileage is a must .
Here in the heartland we often get snow and ice from late November to early April so a Vette DD isn't practical and there are always the grandkids to pick up (four of them) so once again a Vette isn't practical for those times. Thanks to our MY 02's previous owner we have a low mileage affordable special occasion vehicle in very good condition.
We need to encourage more people to buy new ones. Park, wax, vacuum and drive only on every second weekend. If people buy, drive and enjoy it's going to screw up my choices for the next one.
Every car depreciates, with certain exceptions. I read where a ZO6 sold for over 500 K....................................... ...OK it was a 1963
It really is all about what you want from it, some people love show cars, others want NCRS perfection, some want it to a be a track car, or a 1/4 mile car, or a daily driver.
Plus we all live within our different budgets. what seems like alot of money to me, may be pocket change to you.
Or some of you may be like me and have a family that needs a station wagon to get around in, kinda limits my Vette usage
I just bought my 2004 coupe for 57 cents on the dollar against sticker price. I promise you, it's good for many years to come. I'm getting a lot of pleasure from it. Then I'll sell it and get back 70-80% of my investment.
Didn't realize how many forum members prefer to drive something other then their vette as daily drivers.
Why?
I think I'll be able to save a bundle when I purchase my next vette used!
Garaged, low miles, pampered, waxed, I'd be crazy to drop 50k again when theirs so many garage queens!
It's not just vettes.
I've been looking around for my wife a car and I've found that the absolute best deal out there is very high-end cars a few years old with minimal mileage.
For example, a 1998 Mercedes 500SL, both tops, 16,000 miles, $26K.
SIXTEEN THOUSAND MILES. It's not even broke in yet.
This is my thinking as well. Mine stays in the garage and I only drive it when it is nice. I'm in reverse. I seldom drive mine in the summer because of the Texas sun and mine is T/R. Paint may fade. I don't even know if my windshield wipers work?!?! Never been in rain. This as well makes, if and when I decide to sell, the new owner will be able to tell how **** I was with this car and he'll feel most comfortable about the car as well. My daily driver is a '93 Cavalier, six cyl., automatic and I keep this car mechanically sound indeed. Paid $800 for it with rebuilt motor and transmission. My next door neighbor is a MR. GOODWRENCH and he got the car cheap and rebuilt it all and sold it to me. Keeps trying to buy it back. Insurance.....My VETTE is not a daily driver and I only put about 2000 miles a yr on it if that much. Total insurance for the year with full coverage on the VETTE plus liability on the '93 and me being an old fart is $980 a year. I will be in the market soon for a
Z06 and it will be used as well. SAVE YOUR MONEY

Sometimes it is easier to drop a few grand down and make monthly payments than buying something used and paying in full up front. Also something to be said for driving a car covered under a warranty. It all depends on what you plan on doing with the car.
I bought my car private party and with a loan. With good credit, Wells Fargo did not need to see the car or have it appriased or anything. They just wanted to know the make and model to make sure I wasn't taking a loan for more than the value of the car. I got a pretty good interest rate too. $378 a month for 60 months.
buying a second car for work is what comes out of most peoples mouths. everybody has their reasons, mine is for safety, security and home depot. of course the more you drive any car your odds increase of having an accident as well as having it stolen. as far as putting miles on the car that is what i it bought for.
