Just got the "pull key wait 10 seconds". I never had any column lock recalls done. Mine is a MN6 with a Corvettes of Houston CLB installed.
Can you get this message from just starting the car too fast (faster than the time it takes the column, or the simulated electronics, to unlock)?
The "pull key" message is not necessarily indicative of a pending column lock issue. It is tied to the VATS (vehicle anti-theft system) and has more to do with the car reading the chip on your key than the column lock. The rapid cycle could have had a role in bringing it on. If it reappears, try cleaning the chip on the key with alcohol or blowing out the lock cylinder with compressed air. You could also try switching keys to your second key.

I need to try the key cleaning thing. I installed the COH bypass and regularly got pull key messages although I never had any before. It seems to happen only when I start the car when the doors have not been locked. It happened so often I finally removed the CLB. Does this make any sense? By the way, a previous owner had a recall done.

You didn't mention if the messages went away after removing the CLB. I think the fact the previous owner had a recall done may be contributing to the problem. Does the car start but when you try to drive the fuel gets cut off?
It very well may be tied into the VATS, hopefully it is as I would rather deal with that problem then the steering lock. Good luck!
Just jumping on that I have the *exact* same issue. I don't know if the recall was done, but I've got the CLB installed. I get the issue about 50% of the time, and it cuts the fuel if I don't restart.
I'll try to clean the chip as well. Its annoying, I'll tell you that much.

If you want to confirm whether or not your vehicle had any of the recalls, just call your local dealer and give them your VIN.

Yes, the sequence was 1. recall of some sort done and no messages,
2. installed clb for safety and got messages with fuel shut off if I moved, 3. removed clb and now no messages. I haven't been home to try the key cleaning thing but that's my next step.
I had two similar incidents within 5 days. Being a victim of the DCL, I had that mod performed last year. Recently though, I went to start the car and nothing happened. The security light came on- usually meaning that the ignition isn't reading the chip on my key. After a couple of key re-insertions the car did it's second anti-theft trick which is to start the engine and then kill it within a second or two. I find that the salt in saliva makes a good emergency contact cleaner. Apparently the trick is not to re-insert the key too quickly. You need to wait at least 10 seconds. Still, it's very unnerving.
