Thanks for the in depth explanation, now I understand the difference.........

But,I have to say,I am not aware of ever having a hubcentric specific wheel in my entire life, and have never had a single issue

I just don't see the advantage claimed unless you have a monster truck or the like

What size wheels/tires are those? I'm debating between 18/19's and 19/20's for mine.

19x9.5 front, and 20x10 rear.

Tires are 275/30/19 front, 285/30/20 rear.

For my order....the Wheels came in almost perfect (wasn't happy with the quality of the polished aluminum of the rear lips but the overall construction was very sound). As I've stated many times in the past...IMHO the customer service was deplorable!!!!

Great Wheels
Horrible Customer Service

No problems with the TPS but they do have to be banded - they won't work through the valve stem hole.

Hubcentric means the center bore of the wheel is sized to fit perfectly over the hub of the car, the duty of centering the wheel and supporting the load of the car is the job of the hub. The job of the lugnuts and studs is only to fasten the wheel to the hub, not designed to support the load of the car.

Lugcentric, means the lugnuts not only tighten the wheel, but they also align it to the hub, and essentially support the load too. In this case, the center bore of the wheel can be much larger than thus hub, it doesn't matter.

The reality is MOST modern cars out there use a combination of both. If it uses cone or ball seat lugnuts, the wheel will end up centered, even if the hub bore of the wheel is bigger than the hub.

Custom wheels often use thin rings to shim and make the wheel fit tightly on the hub, which helps to prevent any possible vibration issues, and to also reduce the load on the lug studs.
Plastic, although it seems cheap, is the common material to use in this adapter ring application, because mixing steel and aluminum in a tight fit (wheel bore-to-hub) produces rapid corrosion due to the dissimilar metals, and getting an aluminum wheel that's corroded and bonded itself to the steel hub can be a real bitch to remove if they've been on for a long time.

Holy Smokes! Thank you Dr. Wheel, good answer

TNT C5 I sent you a PM.

Anyone else use the banded method of securing the TPS sensors? Does this hold up over high speed and time?

Anyone know a good place to buy the bands?

Yes. I purchased iForged wheels for my C6 Corvette and I used the Strap Kit for the TPMS Sensors and have had no problems. They work and function awesome. I highly recommend them. HRE also uses the Strap Kit.

I used this method as well when I installed my sensors. I was actually lucky enough to get the bands from Tom (Y2Kvert4me) when I did mine. I am not sure what it cost him back then but I don't believe the bands he used were even associated with vettes or even cars for that matter. I would send him a PM he might be able to recommend an alternative to the kits specifically made for vettes. Good luck...

First pic is of my Iforged Aero's(street bling: Pilot Sports) and the 2nd is of my CCW Corsairs(track R compound Pilot Sport Cups). The Iforged are better looking and cost approx 60% more. The CCWs are lighter and a better track wheel. Both are well made, CCW is a one piece, Iforged a 3 piece. For bling go Iforged, for performance and value go CCW. If you want top of the line road race wheels go Fiske.

just an fyi ....

I have a set of HRE 540's where the sensors were epoxied (spelling?) to the wheels. I've had the set for what 5+ years now and have never had a sensor detach itself from the wheel.

I have a set of Iforged heels where I don't run any sensors ... although I should as I have no sidewall.

My epoxied/banded sensors have been just fine for the last 4 years.

More info and pics about the process, see my posts in this thread:

Great wheels - **** poor customer service. I used to sell iForged and dropped them for HRE because they do not stand by their products.

Talk to ElusiveFx.com...

The way i look at it, as long as you go through an authorized dealer who can take care of your needs, you wont have a problem with iForged. I have yet to have any issues since i started dealing with Elusivefx.
