can someone help me out on this one? I just discovered a pretty bad water leak in my C5 during a 5 hour drive today. it didn't happen until very near the end, going up hill actually, water started pouring into the passenger's side floor. after a quick inspection it looks as if it may have come in through the heater vent, but I don't know for sure. I had another bad leak on the driver's side shortly after I got the car, it turned out to be a clogged drain, water was pooling up under the cowling on the driver's side as a result of leaves and other debris. I'm thinking this may be the same thing which is happening on the passenger's side. I checked quickly and I think I see another rubber hose like thing heading down under there which is similar to what's on the drivers side. I couldn't get my hands under it though because the battery was in the way. Since its pretty late I'm going to wait for daylight to try to fix this one. I think I'll just try removing the cowling...but I left my service manual at home! can anyone with experience with passenger's side water leaks help me out to find the problem? I know there's a TSB on this out there, but it doesn't even mention the driver's side leak I had.
on an unrelated note, I discovered something strange while on this trip, occasionally when I put my signal on to merge to the right my cruise control disables itself. it never does it when going left and it doesn't do it all the time. the cruise is supposed to disable if you turn to sharply at high speeds, any chance its related to this feature?
You're on the right track when you speak of the one on the driver's side.....there's another on the passenger side of the firewall kinda behind the cylinder head. It's not fun to get at it, but you need to figure out how. There's several threads here on the forum that address this topic...do a search on "udders" and you should find them. I believe Bill Curlee did a write-up, complete with pictures, that shows and tells all.
Don't let this problem continue. More than likely, the water is condensation from the AC condensor, and it is drained off through the udders. If their blocked, the condensation backs up, and starts spilling over into the passenger footwell, where it can damage the BCM. Then you have real problems!

Passenger leak is definitely the result of the A/C drain clog. I had this problem last summer on my way to Cape Cod .
Fortunately I had read Bill Curlee's excellent thread (link above) prior to having the problem and I knew immediately what it was and what to do. I was lucky, dried everything out and one year later appeared to have suffered no long lasting effects.
Definitely read the thread..... get in there sooner rather than later and dry everything out good.
Taking off the A/C drain house coming out of the firewall is a real PITA, putting it back on seems almost impossible! I have yet to reinstall my A/C drain hose....
Thanks so much everyone for the great info. I never would have thought to search for udders! The first thing I thought about when this happened during the last mile of my trip yesterday was the BCM. I'm sure that thing doesn't like water. Fortunately it only happened this one time, so hopefully it is fine, it doesn't look like it got wet at all.
I found that one larger drain last night since it looks just like the one on the drivers side which got clogged and soaked my clutch foot on the way into work a couple days after the vette came home with me. I took it out and checked, but that one was perfectly clean. so I decided to check for the A/C condenser drain. I found it with a flash light and thought I was in for a difficult task. it almost looks easier to get to from underneath. but when I actually got my hand down there I was able to get a grip on it and wiggle it right off. I knew immediately that I had found my problem. about 5L of water poured out of the thing! I can't believe something of this importance has such a small pinhole in the bottom of it. it was clogged with some white hard thing which I can't ID...it doesn't matter anyway. I got it out and took a razer blade and made the hole a little bit bigger. I was surprised that it went back on very quickly and easily. I got it into place and rotated it so it would line up right then just pushed it right back on the drain.
Looks like the only lasting casualty is one of my girlfriend's med school board study books which ended up being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Its a little wrinkled from the water but she's going at it right now so I guess all is good.
I had the same problem last year with the A/C Evap drain tube. Water in the passenger side footwell..dripping down on the fuse box and BCM compartment..My fix was to get an extension tube from an old vacuum cleaner and I attached it to my shop vac..put the car on ramps..got underneath and slipped the vacuum hose over the drain tube and sucked the junk and water out of the drain...Didn't have to figure how to get the drain tube on an off..I do this a couple of times a summer and all is good...

next time you need to while you're up there cut the bottom off of the drain tube, it just might fix the problem permanently.
