Anyone have an idea what to do about pitted paint? There has got to be something I can do to help it not look so bad! The paint is pitted all over the nose and all along the lower sides and really shows in the sun I don't think I can afford to get it painted for at least a few years so its not an option. Clay bar? Best wax in existence? Where can you buy Zaino?
If they are just pits in the clear coat, you can usually wetsand and reclear. This eliminates color matching issues and the excessive buildup of paint on a repaint (primer/color/clear) over the old paint if it's not stripped. Thick paint is even more prone to large chips.
I'll talk to some Mexicans at the local washes, they seem to know what they are doing. I just don't know if they do wet sand there as well.
NOOOO. Go to a GOOD paint shop if you are going to do this. It is very easy to burn the paint if not done correctly. Mine was done by the previous owner to remove all of the factory orange peel. You won't believe what a difference it makes. My buddy did his C6 for the same reason, big difference!!
Nope the Mexicans are good for something. For a buck fifty I had the nose of my C4 touched up by the car wash group and it was perfect, and my lawn looks pretty good too.
Don't give up on getting paintwork done. I had both rockers and mirrors redone, and the whole car buffed out for $1100.00. Looks like a different car.
Wow is that impressive! That part wasn't buffed out, it was painted right? If the whole car came out like that it would be worth every penny! What did you done to the nose? The front end looks just like the first picture on mine Did the nose come out the same?
