Like everything in life, the returnless fuel system has its pluses and minuses. Two things that come to mind that are positive:
1. The fuel in the gas tank stays cooler because excess fuel (that was exposed to under-hood temperatures) is never returned back to the fuel tank.
2. The possibility for the fuel pump to make noise (which by the way typically gets worse as the fuel heats up) is reduced because everything is contained inside the gas tank.

The biggest negative about the returnless system is its ability to provide the necessary fuel (read pressure) required by high horsepower applications. BAP (Boost-a-Pumps) are regarded by some to be band-aid solutions by design.
