Quick question, I am attending an event that is going to have a car corral. What is a car corral? I know it probably sounds dumb but I have no clue. Is it for vendors or for people showing there cars?
Usually a Corvette corral at a race. I attened the one at LimeRock up in CT to watch the CR6s run. Got to park out on the paddock and eat lunch with the team and run the track a couple of laps.
It was a real hoot. Get there early. Mid Ohio has them also. Look at corvette Racing and see if there are any listed.
See www.corvettemuseum.com/corrals
Not sure thats it on the registration form it says "car coral 10 X10 space 1-2 cars -2 days $50.00. Worst case I will sign up and regret later if its not for me.
The only down side that I can think of on a car corral is that often they're set up in the infield of a track and there are only certain times you can come and go. However, I did hear one story of a BMW Club with a car corral; well organized, well run, and included free hamburgers and dogs done on a giant barbecue in the middle of the corral. It wasn't till after the event was over everyone discovered the barbecue had spread a thin layer of grease over all the cars in the corral. :o Normally they're a good/safe place to park.
yeah i'm not its just the terminolgy they used in this case. Again the host said it was for individuals interested in selling their vette. thats not me.

The above statement brought back some memories of a similar event. I frequently attended "Hot Dog Saturday" at my local Harley-Davidson dealership. Would always come home with little "spots" all over my bike. Finally realized it was grease off the bar-b-que that was drifting across the parking lot. Changed my parking spot!
For the American LeMans Series, ALMS, racing a coral is where cars of like makes can park. No selling, no vendors, you can come and go at your leisure. I have attended Laguna Seca for several years and the Corvette Coral attendance/parking is great. Paved lot, bunches of Corvettes, great conversation, covered tent, complimentary beverages (non-alcoholic). There is typically an added cost, but well worth the small increase.
If you have a chance to attend (a legitimate) one, I'd encourage you to take it.
