Default Is my battery dying?

My car is an 02 Coupe with only about 20k miles on it.

From my previous experiences my car batteries last for at least 8 years... . To my best knowledge the Vette still has the original battery (AC Crapco ). Two days ago it started cranking kind of "slowish".

Battery time? What is the expected life of a battery in a Vette?

If you're getting eight years out of stock batteries, you're having exceptional luck. Four or five years out of most factory batteries is pretty good usually. Of course it could be a lot of things, but I would have the battery checked first.

EIGHT years?? Darn, that's way more then I get. Anything over four years is good for me. One made it five whole years.

Yea, I am almost positive it is the battery. Since the starter shounds like it is not getting enough juice.

I am just trying to figure out what the normal shelf life is for one of these.

For an AC Delco, about 30 days at the most. Seriously, probably about 3 years.

Easy enough to find out if it's your battery or not. Have it load tested, then you'll know. Since it's the orginal in your '02, good chance that it is. BTW mileage is not necessarily indicative of battery life. Tires more so, batteries not so much, time is more a factor for batteries.

Must be... The Corvette started it's life in Pennsylvania; it was there for 20months or so... this may be the reason.

If you're at 8 years on the orginal battery you're living on borrowed time. I'd replace it now before it does give up the ghost and leave you stranded somewhere.

As others have stated, 8 years is way long.
Get yours tested. You could try a battery tender to help with the slow starting and see if that helps. I got mine from Amazon.com for $45 shipped.

The original Delco in my 2000 Corvette lasted 7 years without any problems.

It was still strong when I replaced it.

I replaced it because I was concerned about possible leaks with an old battery.
