In about 20 years? when they hit the "antique-classic" status... do you think they will bring some bucks or they be like like a stang "a dime a dozen"...i personally think in around 20 years. i at least should be able to get what i paid for it, i bought mine used.what is everyone else's thoughts?
Dime a Dozen.... several hundred thousand made nothing special about it... besides in 20-30 years they will probably be obsolete... won't use gas at that point I don't think.
The special ones that are rare will remain expensive, perhaps a C6 Z06.
Probably not much with the 200k or so made and I want to enjoy mine now and next year buy another low mileage one for a DD when the 08's come out with the LS3 the C5 will probably take a dive in value
I bought mine to drive. My C5 was BOUGHT to be a daily driver, a 2001 with 18k miles, also I STILL have my 1990 C4, that I bought brand new, 140,000 miles on her, and finally had to rebuild the motor with a Stroked 383 after she finally gave out...She and I are soon to make a few more memories yet, as soon as my freaking headers FINALLLLLLY arrive...(Can you HEAR me Ecklers????)
I don't worry about 'what may, or may not be', many a fool has lost a fortune trying to 'guess' what will be priceless tomorrow As for the gas prices comment...THAT may not be too far from the truth! I really think the days of the muscle cars is not long for us, more and more I find people that have little or no appreciation for what made a car a classic and WHY it was a special bond between the car and it's owner...I'm getting older and I'm not so sure anymore that my best days are ahead....they may indeed be behind me....I know I sure have some wonderful memories of past cars and the trips we took.....
It's a tough question and I think we can all agree on one thing; we just don't know what the world will be like in 20 or 30 years. It sounds like forever away, but it's really not. About fuel; we may be running on another type of fuel as a primary source by then but that is not for sure by any means. If so, I'm pretty sure gasoline will still be readily available and if we are running on something else, demand would drop enouph to keep the prices down somewhat. Yes, alot of C5s were built, but so were a lot of first gen Mustangs and those things aren't cheap these days. And our population is only going up, in effect, making the cars more scarce. One thing working agianst future values compared to muscle cars is that C5s last soo long, and people take such good care of them, that they are only going to hit the junk yards when they are crashed. I'm betting they have good value, but not make your retirement or anything. Kind of like a nice early mustang today. (the Z06's, like the 4-speed fastback mustang, will bring the most money)
That's a good question. There were a lot of C5's made (Only a few of the far superior Commerative edition though ) but the C5 is the only Vette to date that actually looks the supercar part. I think it will hold pretty good values especially on the really nice examples.
In 20-30 years I'll be 57-67 -I'm not worth much by that time
Probably be driving a Hover Vette/Hover Rascal And gas powered cars would be like an antique that collectors will buy!
