Default wheel sizes - pls. Help!

i have a 98 with stock wagon wlz on it. What size new wheels would i need to buy for the tires to fit? The back tire says 275/40/zr18 and front says 245/45/zr 17. Should i assume 18's on the back and 17's onthr front? Thanks.

You have it backaswards. 18's go on the back and the 17's go on the front. You'll probably want to go with 18X9.5 Rears and 17x8.5 on the fronts if you're going to use Stock Tire sizes. Keep checking the forum under C5 parts for sale and you'll find some really good deals.

Good luck ...Rocket

Those are the stock tire sizes - 17x8.5" in front and 18x9.5" in back is correct just as Rocket02 stated.

One thing you might want to consider, if you are buying used or aftermarket wheels, some times they will be offered with the tire pressure sensors as a part of the package - with a '98, you can ONLY use sensors from a 2000 or earlier car. The sensors from later model cars 2001 and newer are not compatible with the 2000 and older model year cars.

Also - many of the reproduction wheels are substantially heavier than the OEM wheels. Another point to ponder is that the OEM thinspokes made after 2001 have been reported as subject to spokes developing hairline cracks. Be sure to examine any used thin spokes very closely.

Not bad mouthing anything anyone has - just be an informed consumer, that's all.

Heavier and my Repros were not as balanced as my Thinspokes. Had to use 5lbs of weights. Well, not exactly, but compared to my Polished Aluminum Thinspokes that used 1/2 ounce to balance, it sure seemed like alot and after having them balanced twice and still get vibration around 85 ~90 (I think I would, that is, IF I decided to go that fast but I would never do that, because that would promoting speed and that would shut this thread down).
.
Hindsight, spend a few extra bucks and go with GM original wheels. Spend a few more extra bucks and buy them new through a supporting vendor. Ahh heck, spend a few more extra bucks and buy a new 2007 with brand new wheels.
