We have an 03 convertible and the vanity light cover is broken off making the light stay on. I disconnected the wiring so the light is permanently off but I have a new visor but can't figure out how to get the old one off and the new one installed. Any help is appreciated.

The visor is down like you would normally use it to block the sun from coming in the windshield. Stick the correct size screwdriver into the slot, on the plastic bezel ring. Rotate the sun visor counterclockwise, towards the driver's side window. When you do this the sun visor's iron shaft will press on the screwdriver shaft. All of these things (visor, screwdriver and slotted bezel ring) will rotate together towards the side window. (You will simultaneously be pushing upwards on the screwdriver to keep the tip of the screwdriver in that little slot on the bezel ring.) After a 1/4 or less turn, the sunvisor will simply drop down, now unattached. Now, just separate the wires at the connector. Note: there is a little gray plastic retaining clip on the end of the connector that you must remove. Everything happens smoothly and without any forcing at all. It is detailed in the sevice manual CH 8 - 1269.
Buy the manuals. The manuals are well worth the investment.
I wrapped some electrical tape around the shaft of the sunvisor near the mount. This helped to prevent scratches as I was removing it with a common screwdriver. The driver fits into the TAB and you turn the sunvisor towards the door to rotate the plastic housing counter-clockwise to release the sunvisor.
BTW - The fuse that controls the vanity mirror lights is in the passenger foot well and is Fuse #2.
Forum member DeeGee has a great fix for the mirrors falling off. Takes a couple of minutes, costs pennies, and leaves the visors better than before. Here's the thread. Pics included! http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...=visor+zip+tie
You can use two part epoxy as well. I repair golf clubs, and have found a gazillion uses for the shaft epoxy. It holds great, not affected by heat, and isn't expensive. Plus, it doesn't seep through or warp cardboard.
