Restrictive air filter?
I replaced my air filter today at about 18K miles with a brand new AC Delco one.
This is what the original one looked like. Think it was restrictive?
Thanks!

Lol you funny guy you!
I meant, was it restrictive due to the amount of dirt on it? Or does that seldomly affect performance?

A dirty air filter will absolutely negatively affect performance.

Yes it can affect the performance but not enough to notice it a lot.

Don't you love it when things work as they supposed to. Question though; Why didn't you replace it with a K&N or similar....?

Simply because it would cost most, and aside from being able to clean and re-use it, there's no performance benefit.
If I ever do a mod intake-wise, it will be a true CAI, not just a filter swap.
I'm going to the track this weekend; I'm curious to see if my MPH will go up a bit!

I'd guess no. I've seen a report somewhere (on the GM Truck forum I think) showing that filters (regardless of type) don't change all that much between clean and dirty (as long as you are talking about normal dirt levels). See, the restrictive ones are already restricitve when clean and the non-restrictive ones look dirtier than they really are and don't get measurably more restrictive when dirty.

I changed mine right after I bought my car. Looked about like yours. It was also full of sand. Glad it was doing its job!
