Default GM Bra

just installed my new bra and my dad used leather cleaner and protection on it while i was at work. i know the instruction said not to use any cleaner or conditiner. Did he just ruined it? or can i wash it off with soap and water?

Probably won't hurt it. It's vinyl, it should all wash off when you wash the bra/vette. Take it off afterwards to dry off then reinstall it.

I agree that it should be fine. Also, how was the GM bra fitment?

thanks for the advice. i have her on now for a week to let her stretch and she looks great. got the bra for a nice price from WCC. only problem were the screws. had to buy marine snap screws (thanks to this forum) to replace the crappy ones they give you.

It will be OK. If you want though, just wipe it down with a moist rag and some mild soap.

I used to use tire shine on mine all the time and it not only held up fine, but it looked great and kept the bugs off too!

I have a GM bra I use on my '02 Roadster and it works great. I keep hearing people talk about the snaps. I didn't have any trouble with my snaps. I will give you a little hint about snaps my wife's uncle taught me 37 years ago on a fishing trip. I had one of those cheapo fishing rods that is made in 2 sections that plug together and I was having a tough time getting one plugged into the other. He told me to oil it with that oil can that God gave me. I said what? He showed me how you can rub your finger along the side of you nose and pick up a considerable amout of skin oil. I have never forgotten his true words of wisdom as I have probably oiled several hundred things over the years using that tiny bit of lubricant from that source. Now, back to the snaps. Simply rub your finger on the side of your nose and then rub that finger around the perimeter of the male and female snaps. They will snap right together with no problem. Put that little idea in your bag of tricks and it will make many things go easier in your future.

I just clean the bra with regular car wash soap. Be sure to take the bra off if it gets wet as you don't want wet sand getting under it and chaffing your paint. When I remove the bra I spray it with a hard spray from the hose and then hang it to let it drip dry. After it dries I shake it vigoriously to get any remaining grit out of it. Rub a good coating of fresh wax on the area the bra covers before installing it each time.
