Looking to replace my stock shift **** with something that doesn't make a buzzing noise when used with my Hurst shifter. Read that Delrin makes some options that seem to reduce noice but I can't find much information on them, options or where to buy. Also, I'm open to other options keeping in mind that it would be used with the hurst and that I am trying to reduce buzzing in the ****.
They have two billiard ball types. Scroll down until you see the original Hurst shift ball. They are showing it in white like I have. I know they also make it in black. The white is the original one from the 1960's. I love the retro look and the way it feels in my hand while shifting.
I have a Delrin, makes a big difference in comfort over stock. I REALLY like it. It's less weight than I expected...so I don't know if it will help reduce the vibrations or not. I'm pretty certain you can resell a Delrin easy enough if you try it and don't like it. They are bought and sold quite often here.
Good Luck!
If you are solely interested in eliminating buzzing, a weighted shift **** is the way to go. Delrin wil not reduce buzzing compared to, say, the stock ****. My shift **** is made out of polyurethane that is approx. the same hardness as Delrin (although polyurethane is much shinier) and it will transmit some of the buzzing from a short-throw shifter. Thankfully, any buzzing doesn't rear its head until after 4000 rpm - not an average shifting speed during my commute to work.
I just installed a Delrin **** yesterday to replace my stock ****. I like how it feels, but I am not sold on how it looks. It is the one with "Corvette" written across the top. I still have the stock shifter, so I do not know about the noise on this one. I think that it is probably going to go back....
