Default Z06 Side Vents

Iam thinking about buying the Z06 style rear brake duct side vents. Ive been on the fence with these for awhile now but saw a coupe this weekend that had them and it actually looked great. I had a few questions. First what do you guys think? And second if i put them on and dont like them can i just take them off? I think it said its just 3m tape but will it leave a residue or tear up the paint? Help me decide guys. Thanks in advance

The other kind is the real deal. They are for getting air to the rear brakes. I put them on my car. You have to cut the lower panel out and bolt them on. Everyone will tell you not to get the fake stick-ons.

IMHO if you are doing it just for the looks get the stick on kind. If you were to resell the car you could simply take them off if the new owner didnt like them. If you get the fuctional type they are on there forever unless you get a whole new rocker pannels.

I want it just for looks because ive never really had a problem with the rear brakes over heating so dont think there is any need for extra cooling. Can you tell when looking at the car if they are real or fake?

Only place the real ones make a difference is a high speed road course, you will never need them on a street car. Stick on ones look not nearly as good compared to the real ones, but that sounds like the best option for you.

TWO different kinds!

1. Stick on! (IMO Crap!)

2. Full functional vents with tube to vent brakes - cutting required and if you remove them you'll need to get new rocker panels!

I would only go with the #2 and they are permanent and funtional!

Not my favorite on every Coupe but some look okay with certain colors - IMO not all colors and Z06 Vents look good on the Coupe!

Why? I don't know!

Thanks,Matt

I have them on mine and love the look. If you install the factory system, you will need to cut the rocker panel for the install. You can take them back off if you don't like them, but it will require repair of the hole you cut - which would be new rocker panels. Not an easy job.

I agree with everyone else, dont get the stick on's. You can tell they are fake. My personal opinion, get the real ones or dont do them at all.

I passed buying on a nice 99' Nassau Blue coupe because he had them on there, pretty sure they were functional. I am self conscious about that stuff and since I know no coupe can have them, I couldn't live with them on there. Its easier to get away with it on an FRC but a coupe, not gonna happen. At least he didn't put Z06 badges on the car too though.

When I bought a FRC it had stick on Z06 things. You can have the ones I took off for free if you want them they just need new tape. I thought they looked like hell. You can tell they're fake from about 15-20ft out depending on your vision. Also the tape is so thick there are large gaps all around it. They didn't ruin the paint either just pulled off pretty easy.

Are you talking about carbon fiber? If so the ones you are talking about are from RKSport. It is just the outside shell though not the whole duct, screen, etc. I will be doing this mod probably next January. There are a few members on here that have already done it and it looks bad a$$. Here is the thread on one member doing them.
