I have the plug kits, a jack I bought from AutoZone , and a small compresor. I also bought a spare that I throw in the back for long trips. Better safe than sorry ....

Just be aware, if you put the space saver on the rear, and distance may ruin your diff. with the rolling circumference's being different.

The new plugs require no glue, I just pulled a nail out of the 10 ply tire on my F-250 yesterday. That was a hard tire to plug (due to the 10 plies) but drove the plug home, no biggie. We live 25 miles from a service station, so tire plugs in rural America are a part of life. The ones I use are a gooey, sinewy, cord, and they hold real well. I agree, the tire will be soft when you finish, but if you drive slow you can get to air, without damage. 98% of tire repairs I do on our "fleet", are nails/screws. Also, be sure you get a good HD plug insertion tool. Mine has a metal "T" handle and is very strong, these new plugs are so tough you don't need to "ream" the hole, just insert and go. If the plug bothers you, take it to a tire place later, and get a hot patch, I've just left them in, they never leak, so why bother. Even if you hit the "no zone", the edge where the tread and sidewall meet, you can drive the car after plugging, just don't go 80, get to a tire place the tire is a throw-away anyway.

Which spare do you have and what's the circumference of the spare, if you don't mind checking? The person (and a very nice person) in Germany that is(was) selling the Mercedes jacks(I purchased one) also was using a spare from a Jaguar but it required a 1/2' thick spacer(if I remember correctly) on the front so it would clear the calipers, but not on the rear. Have you checked the spare you are using for caliper clearance on the front?

thanks, Joe

Why, with no spare, would one need a jack?

[QUOTE=hotwheels57;1560542390] I always carried tools on my Harley and never needed to use them.

Now somehow I find that hard to believe!
