I'm going to need new tires for my '03 coupe pretty soon.
I've been leaning towards the Goodyear Eagle F1, mainly because the feedback I've gotten is that it has great wet grip (it rains a bit here in Portland).
However, I've read some posts that the BF Goodrich KDW 2 is supposed to have decent wet grip as well. But I can't find any trace of such a tire on BF Goodrich's web site, Tire Rack's web site, or anywhere else. Does anyone know where I could get some info on the KDW 2?
I think you are referring to the Goodyear GSD3s, correct? If so, why look further? They pummeled many other tires in back-to-back testing. Granted, the BFs may be good tires as well, but keep in mind that the GSD3s ARE great tires - thousands of C5 owners have verified it!
Go with the BF Goodrich, you will not be disapointed. here is a picture of the KDW-2
Thanks for the picture, that helps. It appears that on the BFG site they don't list it as a KDW 2, they just list it as the KDW (based on the tread pattern).
I finally found it on the Tire Rack site by searching for brand. Even though that tire is available in stock Corvette sizes (according to the BFG site), it looks like neither Tire Rack nor Discount Tire carries them (at least they aren't listed on their respective web sites).
Craig, I ran a set of the BFG's for a couple of years. Great tire in the rain. Surprisingly so. They are also a great performance tire. Very stiff sidewall, very sticky, and in my experience, kind of loud due to the big tread blocks. If you want an extremely high performance street tire, buy them. If you want something that's quiet for touring, the BFG is not your tire.
I priced my tire on the tire rack and then took it to discount tire to price match. The both do have the tire. only thing is the size you have to get is the 295/35 because I don't think they make the stock size. I am very happy with the 295/35, the difference in hookup was unbeleivable. The torque steer went away too. You know, how your vette tries to stay in the lines. Order this tire, you will not be sorry. My only regret is that I went with the kdw on the front before I found the kdw2. I could have went a little with a wider lower profile for the front too.

I just bought four Toyo Proxes T1R's. Very good in rain and shine.
i had 5 year old GY's on my Z and there was this one spot on the way to work where i could spin em all the way through 2nd. now it hooks up every time. they're cheap too. 700 for a round of rubber

Unfortunately there's only one chain of tire stores in the Portland area that carries the Toyos, and they're rarely that inexpensive. I think I paid > $800 for a set of T1-Ses for my S2000.
I have the BF Goodrich G-Force KDW's (not the 2) very satisfied. I think they are a great value for price/performance $750 (4). Yes there are others rated better but we are spitting hairs for $300 more, that was my opinion. I just bought a set of Firestone Firehawk WIDE OVALS for my Mustang GT. THESE TIRES ARE INCREDIBLE!!!! They are the quietest performance tire I have ever used, and the turn-in, wet and dry traction, and cornering force is incredible. Tire Rack just offered them at a $100. rebate, so I grabbed a set. I wish I knew this before I bought The Goodriches, everything else being equal, these tires are silky smooth, and quieter.
