Default Lowering help!!!

My friend and I lowered my vette today and we got the fattdaddys on easily then lowered the back very easily then went to the front and even hell froze . The two bolts would not move an inch. We used the swivle head wrench like we were supposed to and we couldnt get the bolt to move at all even after a whole crap load of WD-40. Please help I know you guys have done this yourself and I really dont want to have to take it to a garage and get charged out the a$$ for this. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey Sam,

Try penetrating oil. WD is not real great for loosening up bolts...

Peace

Is the spring pushing down on the a-arm?

If so you need to lift the spring some.

We tried that but we will try again when I get home from work tonight with the penetrating oil and lifting the springs...
Thanks for the help so far, if there are any other suggestions that would be great also

I have not done this to my vette but have been researching it. I found an article on the forum that talks about it and mentions the front are reversed thread. Hope this helps.

mine got so stuck that the tiny head of the boly became stripped...so i had to use a rag and some vice grips to get that sucker to turn...i also had the pressure relieved with the spring jacked up a bit...good luck!!

That is exactly what happened to mine, I will try this when I get home, did you use any liquid wrench or wd 40 when you did this?

Ok so we got one of the front bolt done, but we stripped the other one. Is there another way to get it off other than welding a bit to the top and turning it that way? Please help quick

Mine moved pretty easy. Sorry you are having a hard time.
Are you turning it the right way? Try grabing it from under the spring.

Good luck,

Yes I am turning it the right way I think the problem is that 1 its stripped and 2 its been in the same position for 50k miles and its just real snug in there. But we are getting a tool to turn the stripped bolt (the name of it slipped away from me right now, long day at work) and we are either going to finish the job tonight or tomorrow once its done and its a nice day out I'll take some pics and post them. Thanks for all your help. JPriami be sure to use Liquid Wrench, like they said before it really does work wonders. If I were you I would put it on before you try to turn anything

if you have to you might want to get a ball joint seperater tool and drop the lower control arm, then you just jack up the leaf spring while holding the lower control arm down and youll have plenty of ro0om to get the bottom of the bolt. thats what i did and i took both front bolts completely out, and they unscrewed by hand.
