Default Clutch Question

Hey, I have an 03 Z and I have noticed that the clutch feels like there is more vibration/tension on it when I am pressing it in..I was just wondering if this was a sign of a clutch going bad or whether it is normal... thanks for any advice

I suggest starting with this procedure: Taking Care of Your Clutch.

If the fluid color is very dark, it may take 10-15 changes to get it back to totally clear, zero murkiness. Doing that via self-help takes around an hour and costs only about $10.

Once you've done that, report back on the clutch feel.

Mine did the same thing as it aged. When I first got it, smooth as can be. Started to notice a little vibration, read up on Ranger's clutch maintenance, did the fluid swap (and continue to do it) and it doesn't vibrate as much. Feels much better. The fluid color I should add, was black and nasty...

What color is the clutch fluid now? If it's completely clear and contains zero murkiness when agitated by driving or pedal pumps, then fluid degradation is not the issue. If it's not clear, then worth the effort to clean it up as a self-help measure.

Sometimes a tech bleeding the clutch, doesn't put enough fluid through the hydraulics to rid the actuator (slave) of built-up goo deposits. If your fluid is dark, that may be your situation.

The fluid is clear and there is no murkiness...I have noticed that occasionally the rpm's will jump a little when I press in the clutch..not sure if that is normal or not though

This can be from "out of synch" clutch pressing & releasing of the throttle.
I experienced this a few times when I forst got my C6Z06...Doesn't happen anymore.
