Default Which would you do?

Simple question,

Which one of these would you do:

Install a new gear - I have the 2.73 in now - A4

Or

Install a Vararam intake and a nice cat back exhaust & x-pipe

Just looking for a little more go for cruzin.

I wish I could do both but I do not have the funds for both, so it's one or the other.

You should of made this a pole. I vote for CAI, exhaust, and x-pipe.

I would do the gears first. You'll get the biggest performance gains. After you get your gears put aside some money for your CAI, LT Headers and the catback. You will love package.

With CAI, catback and X-pipe, you may pick up 3 to 4 HP but with gears you will get the boost of 50 HP

You would feel the gears more, but hear the exhaust more. What are your long range plans? Do you know what size gears you are considering? How will you use the car once you are done. Those answers may help with responses.

Well the car has 23500 miles, I will keep it for a few years.

I like the 3.42 gears, the car will be used on the street around the hood - no track. It's not a daily driver either.

Thanks!

I would do the other stuff first and the gears later. The reason being is that when they pull the diff its only another $100 labor to install a a hi-stall converter since every thing is down under the car. Get the pipes so you can enjoy the sound and save the money for the diff/hi-stall.

Ok, so lets say I do the gear and not the hi-stall convertor - as cost is an issue here. Would I lose that much performance without the hi-stall?

Forget the catback, there is very little bang for the buck there. Do a set of 3.42s and a Vararam and your car will feel like a completely different animal. Also, get it dyno tuned, as there is a lot of stuff you can do for the automatics that will make a HUGE difference in the fun factor, such as raising the shift points, speeding up the time it takes to make the shift, deleting torque management, etc. Plus you can often pick up 10rwhp from tuning as well. You'll need to get some sort of programming done when you do the gears anyhow, in order to correct the speedo, so you might as well do more tuning while you're in there.

I would go gears and probably get the 3.73's. Going from the 2.73's the difference will be amazing.

Vararam, Mass Air Flow senser, duct replacement, Velocity Stack, and Borla Stingers!

The person stated 3 HP is incorrect!

The air flow is the right way to go...I DID!!

So I take it you did gears at some time otherwise how can you compare? You just think you got more power because of the sound of the Borlas...
