so my dad is thinking about getting a c5 to cruise with my 81...he's looking at a classified for a 97 with 18k miles...it all sounds good and price is right for market value...but we havent seen it yet, and I was wondering if all 1997's came with those thick spoked wheels that look plastic-ish? because he's cheap and won't pay for a nice set of wheels even though this car sounds nice.

Yes, those wheels are referred to around here as "Wagon Wheels" and they were standard from 97-99. Lots of people have ditched them to replace them with something nicer -- the wagon wheels don't get a lot of love.
I believe the 97 stock wheel was the thick-spoked 'wagon wheel'.
I have chromed ones on my 99. I don't really like them but they aren't too bad. However they are on my list to replace when I go to a bigger tire.
Don't let that be the only thing that keeps you from buying the car. You can get some nice wheels pretty cheap. I had Z06 repros on my old Torch Red coupe that looked great.
Hey, great Father/Son activity! My son owns a Buell motorcycle and so we cruise together that way. You must post us some pictures of when you and your Dad are cruising! Enjoy your Dad while you can! You sound like a great son and remember to be sure and tell him "I love you", as you are never too old to tell your Dad that. Happy Trails!
Here is a picture of his Buell and my C-5 together! You "mod" kings would be proud of him, he has been modding this 1200cc terror of the San Diego freeways and I believe his last mod dynoed in the triple digits of BHP! I think it was about 140bhp? I don't want to really know anymore!
Not all 97's came with wagon wheels. Some had the optional Magnesium wheels which look nicer, and are lighter. Problem is they are rare. Good luck
