Default hood seal question

does anyone have the hood seal installed on their car? i just received mine from WCC and i also the vararam. does it really keep under the hood clean? and how about cowl cover filter? it suppose to keep the air coming into the cabin clean. thanks.

yes

and dry too.

Dirt and water will still find their way. Just keeps a lot out.

thanks...waiting for the temp to go down and work on the car. it's 9 pm and it's still close to 100 in the garage!

When you install the hood seal (assuming that it's not too late and you already did it), install it so that it's about 1/8" back from the edge (see pic)




That way - when you close the hood - the hood seal will not show and will not be pinched by the hood. I've had mine installed for over three years and I have not had a problem - keeps a lot of the dirt out and almost all the water too.

One final tip - make very sure that you have the surface clean and totally free of wax. Use mineral spirits or 3M Wax and Adhesive Remover to prep the surface.

I put a seal on mine a few years ago
It sure helps keep the dust and water out.............

thanks for the tip. will do it thursday because it is still too darn hot. will it keep fine desert sand out? darn dust devils this time of year.

IMO, yes the hood seal does keep some dust from getting into the engine bay. It also helps keep some water from getting in there.

No, its 20hp and if you get the door seal and tail light seals you will gain 75hp.


Seriously I have the hood seal and it does keep dirt and water out of the engine bay.
