I got home last night from cruising and tried to turn the headlights on while pulling in the garage for the evening.
Nothing happened.
No lights and motors didn't activate
Kept trying and they eventually worked (intermittenly) upon repeating turning them on-off.
Went back an hour later and they worked flawlessly.
Tryed again this morning and everything worked perfect.
A month ago, I replaced the both motor gears with brass with no issues. I also replaced both lowbeam bulbs with Silverstars a couple of weeks ago. Everthing seemed fine until yesterdays little blip.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Silverbird
Two possibilities but will need more information to help pin it down. Either the headlamp switch is going bad or the headlamp control module. First, set the Twilight Sentinel to "off", then try the headlamp switch. See if it works Ok for several days in varying outside light conditions. With the sentinel turned on, do the lights come on but the doors do or do not raise when the light conditions are correct? Remember, there is a delay built in for them coming on.
I had this same thing happen in Hot Springs for Corvette Weekend. I got back and had a new multifunction switch put in (under warranty). It worked for a few days then did it again. Took it to a mechanic that specializes in corvettes and he traced it down to a bad wire inside the fuse box. He said he had seen this before. $50 tracing the wire, splicing in a new one...fixed.
