Well I am looking to get a Vette here in the coming weeks. I cant decide on the 03-04 Z06 or a 05 Coupe.

Anyway to my question, if I do go with a 04 Z06 I will have about 4k to dump in it immediately. I know a little about Vettes, but I use to own a 97 Camaro (11.55qtr) so I am keeping the NOS off of it and my Digital 6. I do want to know what is the best bang for the buck on Vettes. Any advise would be appreciated greatly. I cant wait to OFFICIALLY (BUY) join.

If you are looking for performance go with the Z and you will not be sorry, but if you want the newest you can get with your $$ go for the coupe. Its all about what your looking for.

Drive 'em both, buy what you like as it's your money.

As stated above, I would drive them both. And see which one works for you. I prefer the styling of the Z06, but those C6's look good too.

Best starting mods: Intake, Headers, Exhaust, Tune, Pully.

I don't understand! Why 4K, I own an '04 Z and its a rocket ship. I believe I can outperform many higher powered cars based on driver skills. Look at Ranger, give him that stock C5 and he will beat the snot out of me in my Z. Guess what I am saying is once you drive a car to its absolute envelope parameters, if ever, than go mod go.
Remember the difference between a stock C5Z and C6Z are a couple of tenths. That is it!. So buy what floats your boat. I am assuming the C5 has an 6sp. That would be my only wish list. JMO

Best mod path is to improve driver skill first. A skilled driver in a stock car will out-accelerated a less-skilled driver with 50 more rwhp via mods.

Once the driver-mod is in place, if achieved performance level doesn't meet your needs, do some mods.

BTW, good to get a GMPP extended warranty in effect before the 36/36 bumper-to-bumper expires.

I have both C5 02 ZO6 and a C6 06 Coupe Z51 6 sp! The C5 ZO6 is very fast! The C6 Z51 is very fast with comfort!

I actually perfer my 02 ZO6 cause it feels more connected to the road, but you cant beat the C6 for comfort on long trips!!

My wife LOVES her 06!
