Default c5 Windshield Seal ?

The lower windshield seal (attached to the cowl) on my 2000 Coupe is starting to separate, so I'm guessing it probably needs to be replaced. I found a replacement seal for under $25 at several online vette shops. Has anyone replaced one of these and how difficult is it? Does this seal need to be glued or not? Do I also need the weatherstrip tool kit for this (they are about $25 for 4 tools)? Any input would be greatly appreciated before I buy what I need to replace the seal. Thanks.

It's not really a seal, it's there to keep the cowl from rubbing the windshield. I just replaced my wiper motor, and like yours, my "seal" was coming a little loose. When I took the cowl off, I put the rubber back into position, then ran black duct tape along the inside edge to hold it in place. Good as new. Keeps the rubber in place. You could also use black silicone to hold the rubber onto the cowl. I just didn't have any at the time. All you need is something to hold the rubber on the cowl, that's all. HTH
Sweet ride! And the right color too.

Sneakelman, I see what you mean and thanks for the reply. It looks like it was held in place with some sort of clear adhesive tape on the underside, but it's starting to peal off due to weathering and age. I tried to take off the wiper arm to remove the cowl but after removing the nut on the wiper arm, I could not get the wiper arm off...it wouldn't budge and I didn't want to try to force it off. I read on other threads that some came off rather easily and others needed a puller. So I guess it's off to the auto store for a puller. Thanks again.

The factory tape looked like weathered scotch tape to me. Just grab a battery terminal puller from parts store. They work great for pulling wiper arms, cost about 5.00.

While you got it pulled apart, a little preventative measure for you.
