THe car's temp appears to be running normal but it's high and IT'S GOTTA GO! Running at the 220 mark and going a little above sometimes. I want it kept under the 220 at all times. What have some of y'all done about that?
Quite interested to see the response here... I just got back from a weekend in Palm Springs (the desert for the non-Southern Californian forumite). On the way out there, it was in the low 90's and got to the mid 100's while in the desert. My thermostat read 248!! I've never seen it get that high!
All GM aliminum engines are made to run at higher temps. As long as it stays under 240, you're fine. Higher temps will keep the engine cleaner. If temps run above that, I suggest lower T-stat with computer tune to run the lower temps, or use mostly water in the cooling system with Water Wetter.
Check to see if the radiator is clean. These things are vacuum cleaners for debris. My car has a supercharger and it runs a little hot when the temps get near 100 here in SoCal. Never seen it hotter than 235.
