I just purchased a convertible C-5 and was wondering if opening the trunk was a common problem. The trunk lid pops open but I can not pull it open unless I wedge a key or a screw driver in between the trunk lid and the bumper cover.

Any suggestions??
Try lubing the trunk hinges...........That don't work.
Your trunk shocks are probably wore out...........

Mine does the same thing. But I can just about get my finger under it. One thing I did find out if you pop the trunk and then close the door (that is when the top and windows are up) the lid pops up a whole lot.... Haven't tried it with the top down....
When I bought mine from the dealer pre-owned they replaced the shock struts and it barely helped. I can still get a pinky under there too. I agree with the other posters here with the driver's door manuever with the windows and top up. Sort of hinky but it does work! Happy Trails anyway!
[QUOTE=rws.1;1560820591]or you can buy one of these...
this completely solved my trunk lid problem at a fraction of the cost of some of the other mechanical solutions and I don't even notice it when I open the lid. Even if I have to buy another one down the road, I am still $ ahead.

If you do a search in the archives you will see a TSB that discusses the weak spring in the latch of Verts and FRCs and talks of an adjustment/Mod that helps the latch open, pushing the striker/deck lid up. I also wanted to blame the shocks (gas struts) but they are NOT the problem.
