Very common; every few months I spray WD-40 on it and it seems to work better.
Spray the lock mechanism and it'll pop up a little better. Also you'll find the rubber buffers on the trunk lid actually turn and extend slightly. If you wind them out a little it gives more push as the trunk pops.
The other method is to pop the trunk and then close the door. The air pressure pushes the lid up.
Mine does the same thing. But I can just about get my finger under it. One thing I did find out if you pop the trunk and then close the door (that is when the top and windows are up) the lid pops up a whole lot.... Haven't tried it with the top down....
Had the same problem. But my fix is different from anything I've read here. My stricker was loose, had to pull the backup light off the rear bumper to reach the striker nuts and retighten. Mine were so loose two of the nuts fell off and I found them inside the bumper. It works like new now!!!!!!
I just made a home made version of the trunk popper using a spring from the center section of the winding mechanism from a yard trimmer. Bent the end and stuck it on with the screw at the latch.
It is not as elegant as the trunk popper, but it works for now. We'll see if it holds up to the test of time. Folks here LOVE the trunk popper and I just happen to come across this spring in my garage and thought I'd give it a try.
