Dead Battery ?

Dead Battery ?
So yesterday my original battery finally died, ended up getting an el chepo from Wally world just to get home. Now the temp gage is pegged to 260 and the DIC reads xxxxFº , I am guessing a blown fuses or could it be something else????? BTW , had the car 3.5 years and 45,k on the clock , I am surprised the battery lasted this long.

Perhaps some error codes got set when you replaced the old battery. Check to see if there are any, and if so, clear them. Hopefully, that is all it is.
If the new battery is good, your DIC should display approximately 14 volts while the car is running.

Like your hair. I replaced my leaking (acid) Delco with a Sams battery for $53. Acid ate the vacuum hose to the A/C mode selector. You might want to mix up a couple of gallons of Baking Soda and water and apply LIBERALLY under the battery hold down. 4 bolts to get it out. If your A/C is blowing out of all vents then it's a good chance the battery acid has eaten your hard plastic vacuum lines too.
