May we get an update on your windscreen saga??

ALSO....I too am 6' 2" tall and run the seat all the way back to drive. However, an inch of space forward would not bother me if that is what it takes to mount the vette-net (new style - old style??). What confused me was your original question of which would be best for you, the old style or new style. I believe you were answered with the new style. (Didn't make sense to me, but maybe I didn't understand.)

If the new style is shorter by 3" (7") which would bring it to the top of the seat, then you at 6' 2" are still going to get blown away until you can get your head below the windscreen. So I would think that the older style of 10" would of been the answer. The older style does look kind of awkward in lieu of the streamline new style.

So having not wind tunnel tested these things, I would like to know which is best for the tall guys. The guy who raised his new style with wine corks seemed to have resolved his problem for his height. So why can't the windscreens be made adjustable to fit the different heights of the drivers??

I have not seen any of these installed so that I may inspect one, but I am considering getting one if I can ever figure out which one I may need for ME.

You guys who have these installed on your verts chime in!

Well, When I called the vendor, she told me it would cost me $40 to have it 'rescreened'. I complained a bit, but gzve her my credit card info, and sent mine to her. Three weeks later, I still didn't hear back, so I called her. She said 'so, that one belongs to you?' I told her YES!

Then, she told me they could NOT rescreen it. She said it would cost $100 for a replacement! I was so frustrated, but I wanted my screen back! So, I paid her $100 now and got my screen back.

Being 6'2", when my seat moves back, it bronke the seat back release!!!
Gee whiz, this think has been nothing but trouble for me. The new seat latch costs me $38. It will take me a few hours to disassemble my seat to repalce this.

Anyone else have my problems?

I'm sorry for your troubles. We have sold well over 200 of these and have had no such reported issues.

$100 buck seems a little much to me.
If you want, I'll be glad to split it with you.

Just let me know...

Peace
Chip

Old school Vette Net was 10" tall and made of mesh. You need 1" behind the seat for the old version

New version is 7" tall and made of polycarbonate

Chip,
I thank you for your offer. That is very considerate of you. You really don't have to, but if you want to, I will accept.

Now this is getting scary!

I'd like to hear more from the 200 plus customers rather than the manufacturer/seller. Maybe I don't want one of these and I'll just run down the highway with the right window rolled up. (well it does cut the wind.)

PRO's............CON's....... Do I want one of these things?

PRO's............CON's....... Do I want one of these things?
PRO's -
+It does what I needed it to do - keep my hair reasonably knot free ("reasonably" can be debated I suppose). It won't stop all the wind, but it does a good job.
+It is easy to install, remove and store.
+I have the new version (see attached photos) which is low and not obtrusive.

CON's -
+Depending on how you adjust your seat or your rear view mirror, the top bar can cut through your vision. It is something you get used to after about a day of driving with it. I'm 5'8" for reference.
+The brackets to screen fittings could be tighter - I experienced a bit of rattle at highway speeds. I put some gaffer (black) tape on the shaft and it took care of the noise.

"Do I want one of these things?"
+If you have hair long enough to get wind whipped, or even if you have short hair and want a quieter ride....the answer is "yes".
+If you like having the wind beat the back of your neck and needing the stereo loud enough to drown out the wind whipping past your ears or you are bothered by putting on/taking of the screen...the answer is "no". I have not taken mine off since I bought it. I keep my vert in the garage and only drive on nice days (not a DD).

Additionally, if someone stole the thing (or I broke it somehow) I would be ordering a replacement first thing. It makes *my* vert life much more enjoyable.

Good luck with your decision,
Katherine

Chip- I ordered the stainless steel rear inserts and love them. I am interested in the windscreen as well. I am embarrassed to say this but since I have had my convertible-of course I am driving top down and my sinuses have been going crazy. I know it has to do with the wind around my head and neck. Wind around my neck and head has always broke loose the sinus stuff. I have been taking medicine and will continue to do so- to enjoy the top down driving experience. But if I can get some wind relief around the back of the head and neck, I know it will help tremendously.
On a scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being with no wind screen and wind swirling around head- where on the scale will the wind be with the wind screen?
Forgive my musings- but looking for relief!

Hey Chip, are these built any different for C5 and C6? My friend has one laying around and he doesn't know if it is for a C5 or C6. I have a coupe so no way to tell.

You can PM me if you prefer. Thanks for your input.

I purchased a wind screen, but since I am 6'2", it really does not help much for me. My wife is only 5'1", and she complains if there is ANY wind; so I do not put the top down with her.

Try putting a cork in the bottom of each bracket to raise it an inch or so...

Chip,

I was under the impression they were going to offer these (for the C5's) in an optional Le Mans Blue - but when I attempted to 'select color' there is not LMB
