Doggone it these pics do not do justice to the gold, I think sunlight was just too bright !

Just an FYI, pay attention to your polishing on the gold plate. You DO NOT want to polish it too much. It is easy to clean but if you polish it too much you will eventually rub the gold right off to the nickel since it is soft. Most people who gold plate items for show cars redo the plate around the 3 year mark.
