Poured a bottle in this morning. Normally in stop and go traffic, it will reach 220. With WaterWetter, it did not go above 210. Just a 10 degree drop, but any little cooling helps. Great $7.00 mod!
BTW, it is a stock motor with 50/50 Dexcool/water.
Highly recommend Water Wetter by Redline for any automotive engine coolant system. And, I have been using Redline products with satisfaction for over twenty years! Good ****!
Poured in some a couple of days ago here in sunny phoenix az....haven't seen too much difference...but i'll give it a chance for another few days....cause it has only been about 115-117 the past couple of days!!!!
I have used Water Wetter for years in my C-3 and did see at least
a 10 degree difference but I never even thought about using it in
the C-5. After reading your post I am getting some for the C-5.
I have used Redline water wetter and Royal Purple Purple ice in my Vetttes for the past 3 years.
The technology is well understood. a surfactant helps the water "wet out" (make more intimate contact with) the radiator fins and permits a higher rate of heat transfer.
I've used it for years in all kinds of hot rods, mostly carburetor tri five Chevy cars with crate engines. It does stabilize the temperatures in dry hot AZ summer temperatures.

...if your coolant is making "more intimate contact with the radiator fins", you've got a leak!

I forgot where I heard this, but does the C5 need two bottles of water wetter?
I've seen where people have put in 2 bottles but the label on the bottle says 1 bottle per 12 quarts which is about what our is. I've got some in my car - car will still run 190 with a 190 stat but it does not seem to get as hot as before - maybe 5-8 degrees cooler so to me it was worth it. Corvette Enthusiast article a while back did a study on the stuff. With 50/50 dexcool and distilled water w/ the water wetter they saw about an 8 degree improvement. $.02 deposited.
People, no matter how cool it is outside or how big your radiator or fans are or how much water wetter you use, your car is never going to be cooler than the thermostat rating.
So if your stock thermostat car is at 197 on the freeway going 70 mph, it wont change more than maybe 2 degrees with water wetter. However, if you are cruising and your temps are 210 at 70 mph, then you might see a 5-10 degree difference by adding WW. And in a BONE STOCK car, the temps in traffic will still get up to 225 because the fans are not on. But with water wetter, when the fans do come on, the temp will fall much faster.

Thanks for the excellent explanation. Put some in my car today. Outside temp around 110, A/C on. First, made a test run on the freeway and a little stop and go. Then added the WW. At 65 to 70 MPH, coolant temp around 196 degrees. Same as before adding WW. Stop and go around 210, same as before adding WW. Now I know why.
