Garage Door Spring Broke !!

At my previous house I had a tension spring break also. It had the safety wires installed and yet it shreaded the safety wire when it broke and flew into the rear wall of my garage!
I went to Menards and bought a retrofit torsion spring to replace the tension springs with. I believe it was/is made by Wayne/Dalton. It stated it was for Wayne/Dalton doors but it worked fine on my Stanley door also! The nice thing about it was it had a built in tensioner that you attach an electric drill to and just wind it up that way, couldn't have been any safer! It's a great upgrade for the older tension type spring setups!
