If you want to make a trip to Tampa, I will fix the rack, horn and pressure sender at no charge except for the parts cost. The top I have no experience with but would look at it for you. Help you offset some costs to stay in your vette. We'll look at the codes and see what is up with that too. Let me know.

Wow!...what a nice jesture Brad...I don't see how anyone could turn an offer like that down...perfect example of the great people here on the CorvetteForum...

Thanks, Brad... that's an amazing offer. I'll keep it in mind, but as of now, I think I'll be selling the car.
Find a nice low mileage '03 - 04', aside from some minor chicken shaat, mine has been overall, a decent, dependable, car. Fortunately I bought an '04 with 31K miles and warranty remaining. I had my turn signal lenses changed, targa top seal, driver's seat belt assy, both door panels, and that's been about it. I did put in a CLB as a precaution, and a CAGS bypass. So far, car's been good, I'd drive it anywhere. I have to say though my '04 Mustang GT has had no quality problems to speak of, for the same amount of miles, and I love and enjoy the car, BUT IT ISN'T A CORVETTE!!!
I bought my '98 vert 3 years ago and have not had any issues other than maintenance since then. My car just turned 50,000 miles, so maybe a lower mileage car would be better for you.
Guys he's only at 70,000 now after a year and a half..and
EbCM was bad twice and now 3rd time in a year..don't think
mileage is the problem.
You know those great old vettes that bring all the money-----
Well this is how they started out-----
Either your a true vette man or just a guy that has a vette
thisyear and a pony car next
You know your heart

I agree with the second part, but have to disagree with the first part. I think some cars are just lemons. Maybe they were just poorly assembled at the factory, I don't know. But it seems some cars just have problems their whole life. If you're not a resto-man, sell it and get a more reliable one.
I went to test drive a couple of cars over at carmax tonight, mostly just out of curiosity... I drove a 6-speed Infiniti G35 coupe, which was surprisingly fun, and very comfortable, and a Lexus IS250 (I think) at the salesman's urging, which I was much less impressed with. THe salesman, coincidentally, had a '98 C5 vert that he got delivered at the museum, he loved the car, until it was stolen... and replaced with a BMW.
Anyway, while I had a nice time driving the G35, I actually had more fun driving my ol' C5 back home -- the torque, the B&B exhaust note... even with a service ABS light popping up as I pulled out of the carmax parking lot.
I guess that tells me something, about my need for a big V8 and wind in my hair. I think a different C5 is the way to go, most likely. I might go test drive a C6, but I worry that that is a bad idea.
MY Girlfriend has a G35 Coupe which I love but my C5 Rocks...
My first was a Y2k Vert with 45k miles. I loved it but It had problems that would not go away. I decided to sell it.
6 months later I bought my 2001 coupe with 77k miles. This car has been a dream and I am much happier with it than the problematic vert I bought... Not to mention I paid a lot less money on the newer one.
Find yourself a low mileage C5 (perhaps even a Z06) that has a warranty remaining. That way you can still enjoy owning a Vette without all the repair bills hitting you in the wallet.
I just went through what you are going through with a 1963 C2. That car put me and the wife through hell. It literally took over our lives. We lost some money when we sold it but we absolutely love our 2003 Vert.

Makes me smile that there are still people like you
If you love Corvettes, and you're not sold on the looks or the price tag of a C6 - then the answer is fairly obvious to me - look for a low mileage newer car....you might even find one with an extended warranty that can be transferred.
I have a '98 that now has about 60K on it - I have replaced the oil sending unit, the clutch (I am the third owner) and the headlight gears. Other than that - it's been routine maintenance and mods/upgrades.
I really believe in the common phrase that every says around here - buy the newest lowest mileage car you can afford.
GMPP needs to be purchased when the car is still under some form of GM warranty. That's what all the dealers on here say, anyway.... do you know something we don't?

You will need to find a dealer that will want to sell you the warranty.
I waited 3 months before buying the warranty.
In most cases the dealer will want to at least look at the car (Warranty guys not service guys)
but the dealer I bought mine from did not even do that.
