Default Sway bar removal help needed!

Well, it never fails. Even the simplest jobs are not easy for me. No matter what I am doing, I always need to stop mid-project and ask you guys for help.:o

At first glance prior to ordering my sway bar kit, I thought this would be an hour project, tops.

So I now have the car jacked up and can't figure out how to get the end links to detach from the control arm. There is a nut on one side and what looks to be just plastic on the other side. So I start turning the bolt, but am getting nowhere.

So I am assuming there is something that I need to hold in place while turning that nut? Before go tearing things apart and bashing my head into the wall, I figure I'd check with my good friends on here.

I did a quick search and came up with nothing.

Anything else to look out for during the front/rear install? For clarification, I am starting with the rear and can't figure out how to detach the end links from the lower control arm.

Thanks
-Halfway!

pull your wheels off (to have more light there)

you will need an ALLEN wrench (forgot what size) to undo the Nut.

very simple

Thanks guys, I figured it out. You have to use a torx (I used 30, but I think a little bigger would be better) at the end of the bolt, then an 18mm socket/wrench on the bolt and turn them in opposite directions.

I got the rear off, and am painting the brackets and will put it back on. Hopefully the front goes smooth!

Thanks again guys!

Also, It looks like the four end links that came in the new kit are all identical. If anyone knows different, let me know...

Hopefully if someone is as stupid as me, they can search and find this thread to help them through the install, though I doubt it!

The link you provided is fantastic Chuck! Many thanks!

Yup, the end links are indeed all the same and here's what I did when I changed out my front end links... I took the entire sway bar out after disconnecting the end links because to get to the end links while still hooked to the sway and AND the car, it was going to be VERY tight and difficult... I simply disconnected them on the car, dropped the two bar clamps and then changed the endlinks out on the bench!!

Hey, whatever you do, don't call yourself stupid. So many vette owners are afraid to try ANY work on their cars. You have gone under and have done the job yourself. Well done, wish more vette people did what you have today!! Congrats man.
