I'm planning to replace my calipers with red ones. Do I need to 'Bleed'
the brake system or can I just bolt them on?
Thanks,
C.J.
Hey C.J.,
Any time you break open the lines you have to bleed the system. Especially putting new calipers on. You have to get the air out of them.
So, put them babies on, bleed her out real good, and get us some pics of 'em.

P.S.
Start with back passenger wheel, then back driver side, then front passenger, then front driver side last. Make sure you keep the resevour topped off. If you suck any air in, you'll have to start all over. A vacuum bleeder works great. Cheap at any parts store.

If you do take your old calipers off and replace them make sure that you replace the 8 copper washers that go on either side of the banjo fitting on the brake line. Good luck and enjoy the mod.

Thanks, I remember reading this on the Forum a while back..

I was saying the same thing to myself. I painted mine a couple of weeks ago and in comparison to my friend's Z06 of the same year. my paint looks better than his production calipers. For $20 no less.
put a little chapstick on the letters befoee your paint...
Once the paint dries use a razor blade and the chapstick allows the paint to slice cleanly off.
Once the paint is removed, use some very fine sandpaper or steel wool to brighten the letters then coat with a paint sealant like Rejex/Zaino etc.

Clean them real good with brake part cleaner and then pain them with a high temp red paint. Then scrape / sand the paint of the letters. Take your time and go slow, but it's easy.
Mine are painted Mag Red and I just sanded the letters and then clear coated them. Here a picture that was taken about 3 months after I did them.

Looks Great!! Where did you find the Mag Red paint? Dealer?
After painting the calipers simply sand the letters. They are raised letters so the sandpaper will only hit the hi spots. this is the only way to get a perfect job. Chapstip does not work it looks sloppy if the chapstick gathers on the edges. Mine look great I touch them up often and keep them looking new. I painted the brackets and the back of the brake pads also.
Were do you get the copper washers at if you remove the calibers. Im planning to paint mine but im having them removed at work the night before ,got my rotors and ordered hawk ceramic pads. Would like to see more pics of painted ones. some people paint the brakets black.
