Any suggestions on replacement tires for the C5? I am looking for an overall good tire (run flats) for everyday use and good treadwear.
Thanks!
Haven't used these, but a friend of mine has a set of Firehawk SZ50 EP Runflat Tires http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ng=Y&minLoad=S ... likes them much better than the OEM Goodyear runflats that came on his C5.
Right now, I have non-runflats: General Exclaim UHP tires http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ng=Y&minLoad=S. Good price, good wear and reasonable performance when pressed, even in the rain and on the track. Couldn't tell you about their performance in light snow.

02MillenniumVette I hate you for posting that Avatar picture. I can't take my eyes off of her to read the text in the post.
Oh crap, I just opened you info page. Now I'm really screwed. If she is with you, you are one lucky SOB.
Sorry to hijack this thread but it was necessary.

Dump the runcraps is the best advice I can give. The car will drive and handle much better. I went with Michelin PS2. If you are dead set on keeping the Run Flats I hear the Michelin Run Flat is a big improvement over the Goodyear Run Flats.
Think of the Goodyear tires that are standard equip. like this
The enginers at GM had to have tires that could do a great
many things on their test car-vettes. Speed, braking etc and
don't forget runflat. Those guys are pretty smart they tested
the vette under many extreme conditions with Goodyear tires.
I won't say that Goodyear is the only good tire there are many
but GM thought that GY tires were the best on their test
track built to GMs spec. and offer it as the only tire option.
I use Goodyear

Your reasoning is inline, but flawed. Manufacturers often select tires that are capable of doing everything (dry, wet, warm, cold, low noise, long life, etc) on an average level. Today's modern high performance summer tires take a specific few of these traits and execute them well, at the expense of other traits. However, for someone that is driving a high performance vehicle like a Corvette, things like tread wear should be of less concern then stickiness (a technical term).
Its often not that GM (or the manufacturer in general) thought that the Goodyear RunFlats were the BEST tire, its that they were the BEST tire at the time and for the price they paid for them. Times change, tread patterns, materials and overall design are advancing more and more every year.
To the OP: Go to tirerack.com, find tires in the size you want using their search feature. Read the private reviews and Tirerack's reviews of the tires that have the features you want, Tirerack tests and reviews most, if not all, of the tires that they sell.
My Vette shop recommends and installs more PS2's than any other tire. If you can spend the money they seem to be the reference point for run-flats. I run Kumho's on my daily driver and I think that they represent a fantastic value!

I have PS2s (non run flat) on my current car, of the all the tires I've tried (Toyo, Goodyear, Pirelli, Bridgestone) they are the ones that I like the best. The adage of getting what you pay for certainly applies in this case.
I also agree with SingerIslandC5 in that Kumhos are an awesome value for a high performance tire. I've personally never driven them, but have heard nothing but greats reviews about them. Grassroot Motorsports chose Kumho Ecsta MX's for their project C5.
