[Z06] Splinter crack in front spring

Splinter crack in front spring

I just noticed yesterday while the car was on the lift that there was a 4-5 inch splinter hanging from the front composite spring.
It is cracked enough that I can see the fiber under the surface of the spring, probaby an 1/16 inch thick sliver.

There are no signs of impact fore or aft, and definitely no off road excursions.

How serious is this and are these types of cracks prone to getting larger or catastophic failure?

They are not common but do haapen. The front spring on my Coupe did that. I trimmed the splinter and drove on it for several months. It did not progress further. I eventually replaced it with Z06 springs.

i would replace asap...

i broke my rear leaf going about 75-80 mph and almost lost control......
